Nvidia’s GeForce Now service is out of beta and available for everyone, but is it worth it? So far, game streaming hasn’t been too impressive. Google Stadia recently released to a lukewarm. GeForce Now is similar in many ways, but the service is being offered by a major company and streamlines a lot of the setup and install required by the end user. In fact a similar service, Shadow, has none of the steamlined process, and just provides a remotely accessible Windows Box that's tuned for gaming. GeForce Now is available in two membership tiers, Free and Founders. Free is obviously free, and Founders is $4.99 per month with a 90-day free trial period. The Founders membership provides.
I fear that GeForce now is secretly mining in the background. I believe this to be true for the following reasons:
I have a laptop that runs its fans loudly when I put it under pressure. That is why I have a power saver mode which limits the CPU to around 50% so that I can browse without fan noise. I have noticed that while waiting in the GeForce now queue my fans start spinning loudly and in the task manager I see that GeForce now is using a lot of CPU. The same thing goes on when I am gaming. I turned on my power saver feature while I was gaming and my fans went quite without any difference in the performance in the game. The same things happen with the queue. This led me to believe that GeForce now doesn't actually need that CPU power, but still uses it.
The second reason is that today, actually right now, I woke up as I had to go to the bathroom and heard my fans spinning loudly. I check my laptop and see that GeForce now is using 30% CPU usage (Reliability Agent). Now, this is at 1:30 am. The last game I had with GeForce now was at around 10 pm since after that there is no space on the servers. I have no idea what is going on but this is not normal.
I suspect this might be GeForce now mining in the background, however, I don't see any internet usage from it. I am attaching photos to show you what I am talking about.
Please if you are experiencing something similar share. I felt powerless because if that is the case I simply cannot do anything against a big cooperation and this is just sad. I hope I am wrong.

Right now there are over 75 million gamers that have signed up for the GeForce Experience a number that is nearly double the 2014 installation base that had just 35 million users. NVIDIA has been able to grow the user base of GeForce Experience by giving away a great deal of hardware and software. For example since July of this year, NVIDIA has given away MSI VR-Ready Notebooks, HTC Vive Systems, GeForce GTX 1080s, SHIELD Android TVs in promotions. NVIDIA has also been giving away thousands of dollars in game codes to random gamers registered with GeForce Experience 3.1.0 (the latest build), so you can even get free games for using the software. Over $320,000 worth of game codes have been given away to GeForce Experience 3.0 users in the past 4 months alone!
Current and past game code promotions from this year include:
